Catch a Thief Leeds CCTV Appeal.
West Yorkshire Police and the community group Catch a Thief Leeds are appealing for public assistance after a robbery at the Nisa store in Roundhay, Leeds, on December 13, 2023. Around 8:18 p.m., two suspects arrived on a motorcycle. The main suspect, still wearing his helmet, entered the store, asked for three bottles of spirits from behind the counter, and attempted to leave without paying. When the cashier confronted him, he threatened them, claiming to have a knife.
As he left, the suspect discovered that his accomplice, who had been waiting outside on the motorcycle, had already driven off, abandoning him at the scene. Police believe the motorcycle was displaying stolen plates.
Anyone who has information about this incident or recognizes the suspects is encouraged to contact Catch a Thief Leeds or West Yorkshire Police through their website, quoting Ref: IS WYP - 20231213 - 1747. Additionally, retail business owners who have experienced similar crimes are urged to connect with Catch a Thief Leeds to share their experiences and support efforts to reduce retail crime in the community.
Retail crime cost retailers and communities millions of pounds in losses each year which increases the price of the goods we buy. More than 500 retail and security personnel are either assaulted or abused whilst performing their duties serving the public. Retail crime is far from a victimless crime, causing job losses, raised prices and holes in our communities when stores close their doors. Working together we can keep our independent and high street stores open, creating a safer shopping experience for all.
