Sheffield Man Receives Criminal Behaviour Order for Shoplifting

Anthony Price, a resident of Greenland Way, has been sentenced by Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 14, for a series of offences including shoplifting, theft from a motor vehicle, and burglary.

Price, aged 36, pleaded guilty to the offences and was handed a 28-week prison sentence along with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

Being within the boundaries of any business premises in South Yorkshire outside of trading hours without explicit permission from the owner or person in charge.

Remaining on any retail or commercial premises in South Yorkshire if requested to leave.

Entering any unattended motor vehicle, motorcycle, or pedal cycle without the express permission of the owner.

Should anyone witness Price violating the terms of his CBO, they are urged to promptly contact South Yorkshire Police. The police can be reached at 101 for non-emergencies or 999 in case of an emergency.

A Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) focuses on more serious offenders, who engage in criminal activity as well as anti-social behaviour. It can only be issued in conjunction with a sentence that is already imposed or if the individual has a conditional discharge.

The order will either prohibit the offender from doing anything, or require them to do anything, as described in the order e.g., attendance at a course to reduce the behaviour. Before imposing an order, the court must be satisfied that the offender has engaged in such behaviour that caused, or was likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person and that making the order will help in preventing the offender from engaging in such behaviour.
