Tackling Retail Crime Across Lancashire
The CBO is part of Operation Vulture, a targeted initiative by Lancashire Constabulary to combat shoplifting across the county. Backed by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, the operation focuses on:
- Increased patrols in shoplifting hotspots.
- Strengthened partnerships with local retailers.
- Improved intelligence-sharing to identify and apprehend offenders.
Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw commented:
“As Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, I remain committed to working with the Chief Constable to adopt a proactive approach to tackling shoplifting. This includes providing greater protection for shop workers and fostering stronger relationships between retailers and the police.
“The public need to feel confident that when a crime such as shoplifting occurs, the police will respond, and offenders will face consequences. I will continue to monitor the Constabulary’s efforts to ensure better outcomes for retail crime victims.”
The order against Barnes serves as a warning to others and highlights Lancashire Police’s ongoing efforts to address retail crime and support local businesses.
